Contract CT Room Radiation Shielding Works
I. Standard Dimensions of CT Room
1. Scan Room (Main Equipment Room)
- Minimum area: ≥30 ㎡
- Minimum side length: ≥4.5 m
- Common standard dimensions
- Conventional 16/32/64-slice CT: 5.0 m × 6.0 m (30 ㎡)
- High-end CT (128-slice and above): 5.5 m × 6.5 m or 6.0 m × 6.0 m
- Clear height: ≥3.0 m; 3.2 m or above is recommended (to reserve space for ceiling, air conditioning and pipelines)
2. Control Room (Operator Room)
- Area: ≥15 ㎡
- Common dimension: approx. 4.0 m × 4.0 m
- Observation window position: Facing the scanning area for convenient patient observation.
II. Key Requirements for CT Room
1. Radiation Protection Specifications
Ceiling options: ① Welded keel + flame retardant board + lead sheet ② Welded keel + lead-wood composite panel ③ Barium sulfate laid on the floor of the upper floor ④ Welded keel + barium sulfate board ⑤ Barium sulfate plaster on ceiling
Wall options: ① Barium sulfate plaster ② Welded keel + lead sheet ③ Welded keel + barium sulfate board ④ Welded keel + lead-wood composite panel ⑤ Lead sheet ⑥ Barium sulfate + lead sheet
Floor options: ① Barium sulfate ② Lead sheet
- Lead equivalent: Walls, ceiling and floor generally ≥4.0 mmPb (Available shielding materials: barium sulfate, lead sheet, lead-wood composite panel, barium sulfate board).
- Lead equivalent of protective doors and observation windows ≥4.0 mmPb.
- All cable penetrations and trunking must be sealed with lead sheets to prevent radiation leakage.
- Door interlock system is mandatory: X-ray exposure cannot be activated if the door is not fully closed.
2. Structure & Load-bearing Requirements
- Floor load capacity ≥5.0 kN/㎡.
- Equipment foundation or vibration isolation base is recommended for large CT scanners.
- Concrete or solid brick walls are recommended; lightweight hollow structures should be avoided.
- Opening size for motorized radiation protective door: ≥1400 mm × ≥2000 mm
- Opening size for manual radiation protective door: ≥800 mm × ≥2000 mm
- Opening size for radiation shielding observation window: ≥1200 mm × ≥800 mm, bottom height 950 mm above finished floor.
- Ionizing radiation warning signs and operating indicator lights shall be installed outside both motorized and manual protective doors.
