Contract DR Room Radiation Shielding Works
I. Mandatory Dimensions in National Standards (Must Be Complied With)
• Examination Room (Equipment Room) ◦ Minimum usable area: ≥20 ㎡ ◦ Minimum side length: ≥3.5 m ◦ Clear height: ≥3.0 m (≥3.2 m recommended)
• Control Room ◦ Area: ≥15 ㎡ ◦ Clear height: ≥2.8 m
• An equipment foundation or overhead rail is recommended for DR systems (to be confirmed based on drawings provided by the equipment manufacturer). • Concrete or solid brick walls are recommended; lightweight hollow structures shall be avoided. Wall thickness shall be no less than 240 mm. • Opening size for motorized radiation protective door: ≥1400 mm × ≥2000 mm • Opening size for manual radiation protective door: ≥800 mm × ≥2000 mm • Opening size for radiation shielding observation window: ≥1200 mm × ≥800 mm, with its bottom edge 950 mm above finished floor. • Ionizing radiation warning signs and operating indicator lights shall be installed outside both motorized and manual protective doors.
II. Radiation Protection Requirements
Ceiling construction options: ① Welded keel + flame-retardant board + lead sheet ② Welded keel + lead-wood composite panel ③ Barium sulfate shielding on upper-floor slab ④ Welded keel + barium sulfate board ⑤ Barium sulfate plaster applied to ceiling
Wall construction options: ① Barium sulfate plaster ② Welded keel + lead sheet ③ Welded keel + barium sulfate board ④ Welded keel + lead-wood composite panel ⑤ Lead sheet ⑥ Barium sulfate + lead sheet composite shielding
Floor construction options: ① Barium sulfate shielding ② Lead sheet
• Lead equivalent: Walls, ceiling and floor generally ≥3 mmPb (Applicable materials: barium sulfate, lead sheet, lead-wood composite panel, barium sulfate board). • Lead equivalent of protective doors and observation windows ≥3 mmPb. • All cable penetrations and cable trunking must be sealed with lead sheets to prevent radiation leakage. • Door interlock system is mandatory: X-ray exposure cannot be triggered if the door is not fully closed.
