I. Basic Room Dimensions & Mandatory Civil Engineering Requirements

• Treatment Room (Cyclotron Room) ◦ Minimum usable net area: ≥40 ㎡ ◦ Minimum net side length: ≥6.0 m; net width ≥5.0 m ◦ Indoor clear height: ≥3.5 m (≥3.8 m recommended to allow 360° rotation of the gantry) ◦ Floor load capacity: ≥50 kN/㎡

• Control Room ◦ Usable area: ≥18 ㎡ ◦ Clear height: ≥2.8 m

• Maze ◦ Minimum net width of maze: ≥1.2 m; clear height inside passage ≥2.2 m ◦ Maze turning angle ≥90°; primary beam shall not directly irradiate maze walls ◦ Total effective length of maze: ≥3.0 m

• Civil Wall Requirements ◦ Integrally cast high-density reinforced concrete (ρ≥2.35 t/m³) ◦ Floor slabs and ground shall be continuously cast together with walls to avoid continuous construction joints

• Protective Door Opening (Motorized heavy-duty protective door for schemes without maze) ◦ Net opening of motorized protective door: ≥1600 mm × ≥2100 mm, equipped with anti-pinch function and manual opening under power failure

• Radiation Shielding Observation Window Opening ◦ Opening size ≥1200 mm × 800 mm; window bottom 950 mm above finished floor. Lead glass shall provide equivalent shielding lead equivalent to the adjacent wall.

• Signage & Warning Facilities ◦ Ionizing radiation warning signs, Chinese warning notices, red operating indicator lights and audible-visual alarms shall be installed outside protective doors.

II. Radiation Shielding Scheme

Optional Ceiling Structures

① Cast-in-situ high-density concrete slab (primary shielding) ② Cast-in-situ concrete base + composite inner lead sheet shielding (overlap ≥50 mm, sealed by lead welding) ③ Concrete base + lead-wood composite panel (only for secondary scattered radiation areas; shall NOT be used alone for high-energy primary shielding)

Pure barium sulfate mortar is prohibited for primary shielding of cyclotron.

Optional Wall Structures

① Integrally cast high-density reinforced concrete (preferred solution) ② Cast-in-situ concrete base + full inner lead sheet composite shielding ③ Concrete base + lead-wood composite panel (limited to auxiliary scattered radiation shielding areas)

Floor Structures

① Integrally cast high-density reinforced concrete floor (preferred for primary shielding) ② Concrete base + lead sheet composite shielding (upstand ≥100 mm at edges to seal radiation gaps)

• Shielding principle: Primary beam shielding > scattered radiation shielding > maze wall shielding. The lead equivalent of protective doors and observation windows shall not be lower than the equivalent shielding capacity of adjacent walls.

• Mandatory requirements for wall penetrations, cable trays and ventilation ducts Cable trunking shall penetrate walls in S-shaped / Z-shaped labyrinth layout; straight through holes are forbidden. All holes and gaps around pipelines must be sealed with composite materials including lead sheets, lead shot and boron-containing shielding materials. Ventilation ducts shall be fitted with lead-shielded silencers and lead louvers to prevent radiation leakage.

• Safety Interlock System (Mandatory Clause) Door-machine interlock: The equipment cannot emit beam unless the protective door is fully closed. Opening the door during beam emission immediately cuts off high voltage and terminates irradiation. Emergency stop pushbuttons are installed inside the room, within the maze and at the console. Fixed online radiation dose monitoring and alarm devices are installed in the room, with signals connected to the control room.

III. Ventilation, Monitoring & Auxiliary Systems

• Independent mechanical ventilation for the room, air change rate ≥6 times per hour with upward supply and downward exhaust; exhaust air discharged at high altitude. • Two-way intercom system and high-definition video monitoring between treatment room and control room for continuous patient visual observation. • The room is equipped with emergency lighting, emergency door release devices and fire suppression facilities.
