Lead plates have strong corrosion resistance, are resistant to acids and alkalis, suitable for construction in acidic environments, medical radiation protection, X-ray and CT room radiation shielding, weight addition, sound insulation, and many other aspects. Moreover, they are a relatively inexpensive radiation protection material. So how should we handle the situation when lead leaks from lead plates? Below, I will introduce this to everyone.
Lead plates have strong corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and are used in various applications such as construction in acidic environments, medical radiation protection, X-ray and CT room radiation shielding, weighting, sound insulation, and more. They are also a relatively inexpensive radiation protection material. So how should we handle lead leakage from lead plates? Here is an introduction.
1. The fire source should be cut off. Wear a gas mask and general firefighting protective clothing. Use a clean shovel to collect the lead into a dry, clean, covered container, and then solidify it with cement, asphalt, or appropriate thermoplastic materials before disposal. In case of large leaks, collect for recycling or dispose of after harmless treatment.
2. When water bodies are contaminated, neutralization can be used for treatment, which involves adding lime milk to adjust the pH to 7.5, causing lead to precipitate as lead hydroxide and transfer from water to sludge. Mechanical stirring can accelerate clarification, with purification efficiency ranging from 80% to 96%. The lead concentration in treated water is 0.37~0.40mg/L, and the sludge undergoes further harmless treatment. For lead-contaminated soil, additives such as lime and phosphate fertilizers can be added to reduce the activity of lead in the soil and decrease crop absorption of lead.
The above is about lead.
